The documentary covers the brief history of commercial flight. Bruce, himself a commercial airline pilot, is an articulate and engaging presenter. His enthusiasm for the subject matter is infectious. Luckily for us, the Museum of Flight in Seattle has a Concord on display. It’s the only one in United States! The show provided major incentive to get an annual membership at the museum. Now we go at least once a month. It’s crazy. We listen to Maiden’s Aces High on our way down to the museum, of course. Roland sings along to the chorus:

“RUUUUUN! Liiiiive tooo FWAAAAIII!”

I related this fact to Bruce through his radio show on BBC6. Seriously, how many hats does this man wear? Anyhow, he graciously acknowledged my E-mail on the show and gave Roland the birthday shout-out I’d asked for. That was awesome.

Since Roland demands to watch Flying Heavy Metal on a daily basis, I see a lot of Bruce. I listen to his radio show every Friday. I listen to Iron Maiden like I’ve always done (since the days before Roland). There’s a lot of Bruce in my life already. So, imagine my surprise when he showed up unexpectedly on Monty Python’s Almost The Truth.
